Microcement is a coating that is experiencing exponential growth in its decorative use, we find it as a coating for all types of floors, furniture and countertops, it is becoming more and more present both in private homes and commercial premises.

Know the times to achieve the finish you want once the application of our TOPCRET microcement formula is finished:

  • 24 hours for transit free
  • 48 hours for the coating to be waterproof
  • 5 days to reach 75% hardness and allow transit on heavy pieces (furniture, etc.)
  • 21 days for total hardness and drying.

5 TIPS TO CLEAN MICROCEMENT SURFACES
Below we detail what are the most important tips about microcement cleaning:

1- First 72 hours

When 48 hours have elapsed since the application of the sealant, it will be possible to have contact with the surface, but carefully. It is recommended to wait up to a week after this application and avoid the traffic of people in the case of microcement floors.

Another tip is to avoid washing it especially with abrasive products and spilling liquids on surfaces with recent coatings can also degrade the finish of the cover.

It is also worth noting the importance of allowing air to circulate in the environment so that the water vapor produced by the condensation of this material does not affect its settlement.

2- In the first week after the application of the microcement, it is very important not to clean it under any circumstances.

And it is that during the drying of the microcement it is essential to ventilate the room so that it dries correctly before carrying out any cleaning work. Pouring any type of liquid on it could change the colour of the microcement or cause the surface to lighten.

This is especially important to remember when creating a microcement bathroom, where the surface is more susceptible to moisture.

3- Contact with the microcement should also be avoided until it dries, the temperature should also be controlled so that it is above 15ºC at all times.

Once the first week has elapsed after the application of the microcement, the surface of the microcement can be cleaned very gently using only water.
Why? It is necessary to wait for the porosity of the microcement to close completely, and this only happens after the first seven days.

If cleaning is needed, it can be done with neutral PH solutions, alcohol and liquid soap.In short, it is best that during the first month all possible precautions are kept. This period of time is critical to achieve optimum settling of the material.
Do not use abrasive or aggressive products such as solvents, abrasive cleaners or strong chemicals under any circumstances. If done, the microcement surface could be seriously damaged.

4- Specialized products for cleaning microcement

Although water and neutral soap is enough to clean the microcement, there are also other products that we can use for cleaning, some are alkaline products which require protection when used or also opt for less industrial products that we can buy in warehouses or stores.

5- Recommendations

  • Avoid puddles and humidity.
  • Microcement is not compatible with continuous water exposure as this could erode its seal and lead to water leaks.
  • It is important to carry out regular maintenance on this type of surface using acrylic waxes.
  • We must avoid elements that can scratch it. Such as grains of sand or small stones. When driving through them or cleaning them, care must be taken not to drag these elements that could harm their appearance.
